We’ve collected some of our favourite flasmobs from around the web. Some of them push the boundaries in what we normally associate a flashmob to be.

T-Mobile Flash Mob

This was a classic flashmob that appeared on British TV and the reason for 1000′s of people calling us to ask if we could do a flashmob for their girlfriend! Views 33,223,933 +

Antwerp Flash Mob

This is similar flashmob done in Antwerp, Belgium. Train stations are a popular location for Flashmobs. No rain to be concerned about, good viewing postions and a guaranteed audience. Views: 25,642,449 +

Convent Garden Flash Mob

The following flashmob uses a choir and brass instruments to really get the crowd going.

NYC Flash Mob

This is a flashmob done in NYC. It’s a very different kind of Flashmob. People are all taking shared instructions from a pre-recorded audio message, that they’re all listening to in sync with their headphones.

Benfica Stadium

The challenge at the Benfica stadium in Lisbon was simple. The tunnels leading to the car park and the stadium entrance were rather bleak places with dull and dirty concrete walls. Not a place to lift the spirits of people waiting in the queues on match day when 50,000 plus people attend matches. The brief was to create an artwork with colour and verve that would prepare people for the match.

The images were created in quick time, large, colourful with a strong football theme, which had the queues on match day trying to recognise their favourite players. It certainly improved the approach to the stadium.

There are many sports grounds around Europe that could do with a face lift like the Benfica ground and I don’ think it will be long before sponsors switch on to the possibilities of writing their brands into these images.

Mars Ice Cream

Mars wished to draw attention to their range of Ice Creams. Initially we were asked to create a 3D anamorphic image. When the first location turned out to be the Bournemouth International Air show the creative minds thought about sand.

The sand sculpture created stood 8 ft high and weighed some 20 tons. The impressive structure was built right in front of the public, drawing large crowds. The sand artists arrived before the crowds to get the process started and to put down the Mars Ice Cream logo. Naturally Mars had sales points around the Air Show that did very well and the sand sculpture help form a positive association with the brand that would last a long time.

Not many people understand that sand sculptures are not made with beach sand and the special sand we use can be taken of any location. So if you want to attract attention to a brand or a product, imagine a 20 ton 8 ft sculpture in the centre of a town. Some talking point! And the sculpture does not have to be a castle, we can make almost anything out of sand.

Shell 3D illusion Wall Art

Shell were embarking on an internal training programme concentrating on disaster recovery processes.

They approach Media Gang to discuss the possibility of using 3D anamorphic images on the floor of the entrance to their HQ in London.

However the floor space and the flow of people made the location unsuitable. But during the conversation the idea of producing an illusion on a vertical plane came into play.

Shell wanted an image to make people think of what might happen in a disaster to the physical structure of a building and the critical communication and power infrastructure.

The building happened to be close to the London Eye so our artist created an illusion of a hole blown through the wall so you could see the London Eye and the damage to the building exposed broken communication and power lines.

The illusion was so powerful the employee would walk right to the wall in an effort to work out how the illusion was created and in some case to look down a corridor that did not exist in reality.

During the creation of the Art Work we ran into a number of Health and Safety issues to do with taking a traditional open air graffiti artist inside a building. Shell were fantastic in helping us address these issues to make the process safe and in doing so helped improve are knowledge to make it safe to work inside buildings.

Shell loved the work and the buzz it created with their employee and thus prepared then to get the most out of the disaster recovery training programme.

Reverse Graffiti in Sheffield

South Yorkshire Police, Sheffield City Council, the Sheffield Drugs & Alcohol Action Team and the Licensees Forum joined together to commission reverse graffiti campaigns in Sheffield, Doncaster and Barnsley to promote drink awareness and safety in the run up to Christmas.

We encountered a problem with this campaign, it snowed! Not wanting to let them down, we did some experiments using temporary spray paint on the snow.

It worked! and not only that, made the news and numerous papers.

When the snow did finally clear, we went back and did the reverse graffiti in all the cities.

Reverse Graffiti in Portsmouth

Aspex, Portsmouth’s leading contemporary art gallery contacted us to help promote their latest exhibition; a 16-metre dinosaur made in Serbia.

The people of Portsmouth awoke to find dinosaur footprints around the city center. Inside each footprint you could read the URL of the aspex website.

Reverse Graffiti in Newcastle

We’ve done quite a few reverse graffiti campaigns in Newcastle, River Island, Sky Arts. Our latest clean advertising campaign was a for a massive club night in Newcastle called KOOSDAYS. They wanted to use some video footage of the reverse graffiti in action, so we shot them some on our HD camera for them to use on their Facebook page.

Reverse Graffiti in Manchester

Reverse Graffiti in Belfast

As a teaser to the Tennents ViTal music festival in Belfast, we were asked by Material if we could target student and music lovers across the city of Belfast. In 48 hours the campaign was done, even we we’re surprised!

Promoting an in-store event for Clark shoes

We’ve run many clean advertising campaigns in the UK that have been designed to promote an in-store event. In 2010 we ran a 6 city clean advertising campaign for River Island in Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff, London and Birmingham. As we have trained operatives in all these cities, we could run the campaign in a single night.

Our most recent in store event was commissioned by Mary Portas Yellow Door agency for Clarks Shoes. They planed a week long celebration in a pop up shop hosting some great bands, who performed live for the general public.
